TASTINGS FROM THE COAST
Although the winery has risen to prominence for the production of Vermentino, Lunae Bosoni has always been committed to the enhancement of native grapes, constantly seeking the highest expression of quality. Proof of this is this Pigato, part of the Riviera Ligure di Ponente DOC, a white wine that knows how to be a spokesman for all the characteristics of the coastal territory. Made exclusively from Pigato grapes, harvested by hand during mid-September, it is a balanced and fresh white wine whose characteristics are enhanced by processing exclusively in steel, which emphasizes the immediacy of its taste.

A delicate straw yellow with subtle greenish reflections, it presents itself with decidedly floral aromatic notes reminiscent of white rose and lily of the valley, then yellow-fleshed fruit and peach blossoms, all surrounded by subtle marine memories. Balanced, inviting taste, pleasantly fresh and rightly savory, it is characterized by an excellent aromatic persistence that allows all the floral and fruity sensations perceived on the nose to emerge.

Excellent with typical Ligurian dishes, it is ideal with shellfish, fried foods and seafood appetizers but does not disdain fresh and soft cheeses.

The Winery

Cantina Lunae, a historic Ligurian winery, has its roots in a terroir more unique than rare, that of Colli di Luni DOC, a designation shared by Liguria and northern Tuscany. In this hilly territory, viticulture responds to a millennia-old tradition, dating back to the time of the Etruscans and Romans. The custodian of this tradition is the Bosoni family, which with Paolo, founder and soul of the winery in 1966, began that activity, becoming in a few years one of the most important interpreters of Vermentino. We find ourselves precisely in that strip of land located between the towns of Ortonovo and Castelnuovo Magra, in the heart of Lunigiana, in the 40 hectares of vineyards that extend from the foothills to 250 meters above sea level. The soil composition varies according to altitude, characterized by skeleton and clayey silt. Among the rows are varieties of expressive typicality that, in addition to Vermentino, refer to Albarola, Malvasia, Pollera Nera and Massareta. The work in the vineyard and in the cellar is based on the principles of ancient customs of these places, that is, respect for the cycles of nature. But the Lunae winery is also active in research and experimentation, introducing new planting and vineyard care techniques, maceration temperatures, fulling techniques, fermentation temperatures. With the University of Turin, it has also pursued a research and development project for the purpose of enhancing the territory. The result is a range of wines that faithfully interprets this extraordinary terroir, all sharing singular elegance and taste-olfactory harmony, very pleasant to drink and extremely versatile at the table.
