IMPETUOUS AND REFINED
The Valpolicella is a beautiful area of the Veneto bordered by Lake Garda, the Adige river and the Lessini mountains; here the vineyards follow one another on gentle hillsides, caressed to the last by the sun's rays and the exceptional mild microclimate induced by the lake. The strong bond that binds Zenato to this territory results in wines that fully represent the context in which they are born. Absolutely convincing wines with a strong character, fascinating and complex in their aromas and taste that reinterpret, in a modern key, an agriculture rooted in centuries. Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is produced with Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara grapes, rigorously selected and coming from the vineyards of Sant'Ambrogio di Valpolicella, favourably exposed to the south-east and with mineral-rich soils. An Amarone that, in spite of its character, surprises with its extreme drinkability and great balance.

Intense ruby colour, it opens with sensations of morello cherry, plum and black pepper, vegetal underbrush, chocolate, tobacco and rhubarb. Powerful on the palate, warm and very soft, with vigorous but well-balanced tannins and a long balsamic finish.

The Winery

A point of reference for the Italian wine industry, the Zenato company was established in 1960, thanks to its namesake founder Sergio who, with far-sightedness and pioneering spirit, deeply believed in the Lugana and Valpolicella area and bet on native vines. Today, alongside him in the management are his children Alberto and Nadia, who, with their mother Carla, continue to carry on their father's work with passion and professionalism. The Zenato winery is located in Peschiera del Garda, about 25 km west of Verona, on the Veneto side of Lake Garda. A landscape softened by morainic hills and a mild climate, where some 40 hectares of vineyards are planted for the cultivation of Trebbiano di Lugana grapes, later transformed into a great white wine: Lugana DOC. But, as mentioned, over the years the Zenato family has extended its horizon and interests towards Valpolicella. Here, on the Costalunga estate, 35 hectares of land at 300 metres above sea level, the company has a large, modern vineyard, carefully tended in every detail, in which modern agronomic techniques are applied and, at the same time, those traditional cultivation techniques that have proved their worth and made the agricultural landscape of this valley famous throughout the world are respected. Between the rows of vines, the grapes cultivated are Corvina and Rondinella, varieties that form the basis of a wine of great tradition and renown such as Amarone, today considered the finest of Veronese wines on the international wine scene. The rigorous selection of the best bunches of grapes, followed by the ancient technique of drying in wooden crates and a period of maturation in oak barrels for at least 36 months, are the basis of a majestic, soft wine that is able to surprise those who taste it. Among the most emblematic labels is 'Ripassa', the result of the best selection of Valpolicella wine made 'ripassare' on the exhausted marc that gave birth to Amarone. Wines that confirm how this company has always moved in the right direction, focusing on the uniqueness of the territory and a modern, elegant style.
