PLEASANT, THIRST-QUENCHING, MAGNIFICENT!
Of the three colors that it is possible to use to decline a Calabrian wine, perhaps rosé is the most fascinating and tormented, and Sergio Arcuri, undisputed protagonist, knows something about this, with his "Il Marinetto," one of Italy's best rosés from native grape varieties. Bush-trained, in full organic regimen, on silt and clay soils, the Gaglioppo gives a show, interpreted by Sergio in a simple way, without enological forcing and crickets in his head. A rosé of great stuff, surly, expressing the Cirotano terroir from the first glance, in a Mediterranean juice all to savor.

Looks wonderful with a coral pink color, intense and bright. Olfactory profile of great freshness , nectarine peach, ripe pomegranate, candied cherry, blood orange, pink grapefruit, lemons, enhanced by fine marine nuances. The palate denotes remarkable structure, soft, never edgy, with discreet tannicity and a vibrant acid-savory component. It closes with a finish characterized by lots of fruit and minerality.

It pairs well with boards of local cured meats and cheeses or with fish soups, but also on crudités, clam sautés and vegetarian dishes.
Excellent as an aperitif, it holds pleasant surprises with risotto alla pescatore, mullet in guazzetto, cacciucco and stuffed squid, but also with cured meats.

The Winery

We are in Cirò Marina, Ionian Calabria, and it is here that we find the Sergio Arcuri winery, family-owned and with nearly two centuries of history behind it. Today it is run by Sergio and Francesco Arcuri, two brothers who grew up among the vineyards, who, with a strong passion for vine cultivation and a great spirit of sacrifice, follow up on the work undertaken by their father Giuseppe and his grandfather, the latter of whom founded the company in 1880. From them they inherit experience and winemaking technique, as well as the ability to produce a genuine red wine made from Gaglioppo grapes typical of the area. Since 2009, the two brothers have in fact taken the helm in their own hands, continuing on the road started without changing almost anything: vats, concrete tanks and other tools are still the same in the small winery adjacent to the house in a small side street at the entrance to Cirò Marina, thus starting the bottling of their wine to make it known even outside the Calabrian territory. The Cirò Rosso Classico Superiore "Aris" and a rosé "Il Marinetto," come from exclusively organic vineyards, including 2 hectares planted with alberello vines, adopting an organic regime certified since 2015, which provides low yields, high quality, very few treatments and no use of chemicals. Choices that determine the character and personality of Sergio Arcuri's wines. Wines that go beyond the trends of the moment, exalting ripe fruit on the nose and softness on the palate. Choosing to vinify Gaglioppo in purity, with its soft and lively red colors, its tannins, its minerality, the delicate scents of red fruits and fresh flowers, not to "domesticate" it with the help of other grapes, is a courageous and commendable choice, because it means choosing to preserve the typicality of a grape variety and a territory.
