THE TIME OF LUXURY
'We are not artists. With us, the great artist is Nature and every year we are the interpreters of what she wants to give us. Our job is to take part in this choreography between Man and Nature to reveal the great terroirs of Champagne'. These are the words used by Frédéric Rouzaud, President of Louis Roederer, when talking about his Maison, creator of extraordinary wines for over two centuries. The birth of a great Champagne requires patience, moderation and slow rhythms but, above all, listening to Nature in order to enter into intimacy with it and capture its every beat: only in this way is a great Cuvée born. This vintage is composed of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay, sourced from 45 different plots between the Montagne de Reims, Côte de Blancs and Rivière; a classic Cristal, chalky and powerful, in which freshness and complexity have been forged by time.
Intense golden yellow in colour with brilliant reflections, it has dense and extremely lively bubbles that bring fresh fruity scents of citrus fruits, candied lemon peel and flowers, chamomile, honey and toasted hazelnuts to the nose. After a few minutes, tones of vanilla, pastry and slightly smoky reflexes rise. The taste shows elegance, power and concentration, in perfect balance between the freshness, savouriness and softness of the fruit, drawing an aromatic precision, in the memories of the nose, perfectly aligned. Ripe, powerful and complex, it envelops with 100% Cristal typicality.
It pairs perfectly with refined dishes of white fish, shellfish and caviar, saucy white meats and medium-aged cheeses.
The Winery
Maison Louis Roederer: the legend of Cristal.
It all began in 1776, in Reims, but the winery got its current name in 1883, when Louis Roederer himself inherited the winery from his uncle, remodelling it in his own image. The estate's vineyards extend over 240 hectares in the Vallée de la Marne and comprise exclusively Grands and Premiers Crus, with a total of 410 plots.
