It is difficult not to look with wonder at the qualitative constancy of the wines of the Feudi di San Gregorio winery and, at the same time, not to appreciate the decisive aromas and flavors of the territory and the typicality they convey. A reality with just thirty years of life behind it, but which has been able to carve out for itself, right from the start, a respectable place in the great Campania, national and international wine scene! The valorization of the typical vines of the territory is at the first place: here Greco di Tufo, thanks to the minerality and the characteristics of the chalky soil from which its roots draw sustenance, succeeds in expressing at its best the unique and unmistakable taste-olfactory sensations that characterize them; if we then add to all this an excellent quality-price ratio, you just have to stock up!
Bright and clear straw-colored, it has aromas of white peach, rennet apple and wisteria. Fresh, moderately savory and medium-bodied on the palate, it has pleasantly almondy finish.
Pairing with seafood dishes is ideal: octopus and potatoes, spaghetti with tellinis, turbot in a potato crust, and with a tasty fried squid and shrimp.
The Winery
Feudi di San Gregorio wines
The territory of Sorbo Serpico encompasses a unique terroir: rainfall in the norm, large temperature ranges especially before the harvest and an incredible wealth of vines, the variety of which has strongly oriented Feudi di San Gregorio in the market, strong of the incredible genetic bank in its possession, just think that, in some cases, we are talking about vines that exceed a century of life! The success of the partnership between the enterprising president Antonio Capaldo and the technician of undisputed preparation Pierpaolo Sirch, fuels an increasingly concrete dream, which is to read the terroir with a view to reaching, in the very near future, the oenological proposal of a sampling from single Cru. The single-vineyard style has been preponderant here for years, as revealed by the exciting tastings, from the classic Falanghina and Fiano to the undisputed Aglianico, glasses that continue to raise, where possible, the qualitative bar. The entire range on offer enjoys true peace of mind, thanks in part to ongoing experimentation and investment, blatant demonstrations of how, despite the status achieved, Feudi di San Gregorio continues its quest for perfection.
