Love for their land and for the fruits it produces, this is the sentimental union that binds the Tasca d'Almerita family to the world of wine, and so much Sicily is breathed into the glass of the wines they produce. Well-made and engaging wines, with an enthralling aromatic and gustatory insistence, where experimentation and intuition go hand in hand with quality and elegance. Leone d'Almerita is a perfectly successful blend of Catarratto Bianco, a fragrant and perfumed indigenous grape, Sauvignon and Gewürtztraminer, with citrusy and juicy sensations, and Pinot Bianco, which gives softness and refinement.
Extremely bright straw yellow in color, it reveals a broad and colorful olfactory spectrum of white peach and tropical fruit, citrus such as pink grapefruit and citron, white flowers and vanilla. Soft and structured on the palate, it reveals fragrance, acidity and long fruity persistence.
With porcini mushroom risotto, with pasta and beans with mussels, with roasted white meats and baked fish.
The Winery
We are located on the border between the provinces of Palermo and Caltanisetta, in the heart of Sicily, where the mountainside seems to have been painted and the sun constantly caresses two places, in particular, of this wonderful landscape: Regaleali, a beautiful estate located in the hinterland of Palermo, and Villa Tasca, a center of social and cultural life whose origins date back to the 17th century. For as many as eight generations, the Conti Tasca family has always been one of the vanguards of oenological development and research not only in Sicily, but in the entire peninsula, so much so that their wines are esteemed and considered worldwide as synonymous with quality and territoriality. Today the winery is led by Giuseppe and Alberto Tasca, who carry on the ancient family traditions combined with innovation, acting under the banner of biodiversity and environmental sustainability. Regaleali represents the center of a larger reality in which four other estates are connected: Capofaro, in Salina, the land of Malvasia; Sallier de la Tour, not far from Palermo, which has always been devoted to the production of Syrah; Whitaker, in Mozia, where Grillo grapes are grown; and Tascante, on Mount Etna, with Carricante and Nerello Mascalese vines at 700 meters above sea level with 110 vineyard terraces. Added to this is the care and attention with which guests are treated at two of Sicily's most beautiful resorts and the rigor with which each individual estate is managed. The entire range has about 24 labels, internationally awarded wines that reflect the history of a century-old winery, starting with the "Rosso del Conte," Nero d'Avola and Perricone enhanced in chestnut barrels, a tribute to the incredible characteristics of the terroir of contrada Regaleali. The "Regaleali Bianco," the first wine produced, son of a fine blend between Grecanico, Catarratto, Inzolia and Chardonnay, a true celebration of Made in Sicily, or find in your hands a glass of "Nozze d'Oro" or "Leone D'Almerita." These are just a few mentions of products that testify to the indissoluble bond between wine and territory, in a growth of taste emotions that bear the Conti Tasca signature.
