LANDS OF VALDOBBIADENE... WHERE PROSECCO IS SUPERIOR.
Santi's line of vintage wines is enhanced by this Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore, which originates from the hilly soils of morainic origin that characterise the Feletto sub-zone, an area exposed to the constant currents of fresh air coming from the Treviso Pre-Alps. A unique microclimate that favours the salinity of the grapes and a rapid ripening, guaranteeing great strength to a wine that strikes the perfect balance between the classic fruit scents of Glera with mineral tones and citrus freshness: a must that has made Prosecco and this territory one of the excellences of Made in Italy in the glass.
In the glass it presents itself with a pale straw-yellow livery with greenish reflections and a fine, long-lasting grain of bubbles. Fruity fragrances of pear, apple, white peach, citrus and acacia flower are accompanied by intriguing mineral notes. In the mouth, freshness and softness stand out, in a balance where creaminess and savouriness amplify the pleasant sensations, both on the palate and aftertaste, with aromas that persist for a long time.
Excellent with summer first courses, such as pasta and risottos, it lightly accompanies the entire meal up to main courses of steamed or raw fish, grilled white meats and vegetarian dishes.
The Winery
Founded in 1843 in Illasi, a historic village in the province of Verona, the Santi winery is certainly one of the most important wineries in Valpolicella. Run by Carlo Santi, the founder, the Santi family was oriented from the beginning towards quality and careful selection of raw materials, choosing only the best grapes from vineyards in the most suitable areas. This path was followed by Cavalier Attilio Gino Santi who, in pursuit of qualitative excellence, also decided to flank research and innovation, investing in the development of a production method for sparkling wines that led him to be considered a reference point on the Italian wine scene. The third generation of the family, represented by Guido Santi, consolidated the company's propensity for fine products, making, with far-sightedness, a fundamental qualitative turning point. In 1974, the winery became part of the Gruppo Italiano Vini, which enabled the expansion of structures and facilities, strengthening the winery's vocation for quality, especially in the local denominations of the Verona and Adige Valleys. Cultivation was mainly dedicated to the indigenous varieties of the area: Corvina, Molinara and Rondinella. A company that prefers to focus on the use of local material also for the wood used to build the barrels, which are mostly large in order to ensure greater oxygenation. Thanks to the skilful direction of oenologist Ridolfi, today Santi proposes a range of wines with a contemporary style, capable of expressing the excellence of Valpolicella and the Venetian regions, with the aim of giving value to its origins and the tradition of this magnificent terroir. Under the spotlight of the best guides in the sector are the two Amarones, which answer to the names "Proemio" and "Santico", capable of captivating the palates of the most refined tasters with aromas and smoothness expressed at the highest level. Try the Bardolino 'Cà Bordenis', a perfect example of how an everyday wine can be important, or the 'Melibeo' Lugana, a white wine of recognised quality and elegance, which ensures a highly satisfying drink.
