Considered in the environment to be one of the world's finest Rums, Matusalem has managed, with its wide range of products, to earn a respectable place in the international market. It is said to have been Hemingway's favorite distillate for making Mojito, a source of pride that has helped make it known and appreciated worldwide. This Gran Reserva, the flagship of a well-trodden gear, is produced from sugarcane molasses distilled and then aged for a period of time ranging from 15 to 23 years, through the famous Solera Method. It is, therefore, a blend of different Rums with different vintages, expertly blended by master distiller Matusalem to make a unique and inimitable final product that is even better appreciated when tasted neat, on its own and in the company of loved ones.
A light mahogany color with vivid ruby highlights, the nose expresses sweet spicy hints of vanilla and white pepper, coconut and toasted almond, along with notes of tobacco, leather and clove, against a slightly smoky background. The palate is complex, structured and full-bodied, perfectly balanced in the sweetness of the spices in a delicate context that denotes an absolutely successful product of class and finesse.
