DISPENSER OF EMOTIONS
From the vineyards located on the highest hills in the Valpolicella Classica area and from a majority of indigenous Corvina grapes, comes this red wine, with its dry and decisive flavour, that best reflects the values of its wonderful land of origin. Valpolicella is a place where time seems to stand still and long expanses of hills are bound by belts of rows and rows of vines; a great heritage of indigenous grapes, together with the perfect pedoclimatic conditions and the skilful hand of the Cantina di Negrar, prove to be the perfect combination for great wines, such as this Valpolicella Classico, which manages to dispense authentic emotions with every sip.
Intense ruby red in colour with slight violet and purple hues, it expresses on the nose an intense mix of red fruits, blueberry, currant and sour cherry, as well as hints of undergrowth, violets, wet earth and light sweet spicy notes of vanilla and cloves. The taste is dry, appropriately soft and well structured, well balanced between freshness and velvety tannic texture, in a complex of balance and extreme pleasantness.
It goes well with structured first courses such as pappardelle with wild boar ragout, or with tasty cold meats or moderately mature cheeses.
The Winery
The Cantina di Negrar was founded on 23 August 1933, when six local men decided to unite in a cooperative society to defend the territory from speculative investments, choosing to reach the consumer directly through a product bottled in full respect of the local winemaking tradition. The headquarters was at Villa Mosconi, in Arbizzano di Negrar, and the success was so striking, right from the start, that the winery received a special mention diploma in 1935 at the Universal Exhibition in Brussels. In 1936, the first Amarone was born, after tasting a Recioto wine accidentally left to ferment for a long time and, in 1948, the Cantina Sociale Valpolicella moved to San Vito di Negrar, merging with the Cantina Produttori della Valpolicella; In 1957, the Cantina was refounded, with 80 members, in Negrar, in what is still its headquarters today, pursuing a quality project aimed at identifying some of the most vocated areas of Valpolicella from which, with intense work alongside the winegrowers, grapes of extraordinary quality are obtained. Even today, after 80 years of history and success, the mission has never changed: to design the future with a view to sustainability and respect for traditions and the territory.
